A Prayer in Makkah

A Prayer in Makkah

Oh God, Please forgive me for being angry at people who
- think they are your biggest devotees and others have to give way to them.
- think Tawaf is a race or go in the wrong direction during Tawaf so as to take the shortest route to where they want to go.
- arrive early at the mosque but instead of going in, park themselves to be barriers to traffic going in and out.
- think that the marbled courtyard around the mosque is a great place to have a family picnic or chit-chat among friends after prayers.
- move around in long trains, each clinging desperately to the one in front.

Treading cautiously...Do take Makkah as a place where a trial run is conducted for us before we go to the hereafter. A place where there’s a lot of waiting, testing your patience, where other people couldn’t care less about you, masing-masing memikirkan tentang diri sendiri…seolah-olah di padang mahsyar menunggu giliran untuk diadili, ibu bapa tak kenal anak, anak tak kenal ibu bapa, masing-masing memikirkan ke mana arah tuju, ke kanan atau kiri.

    Looking forward to your hijrah.

  2. Dear brother,

There's no need to be angry over things that you cannot control, but pray that you would not ever do things that will make people become angry with you.

Anger is not something one can be willful about. However, one of the attainable objectives of coming here is to learn to control it.

  4. Having thought about it, I really shouldn't be angry. The people who move about in trains are probably scared stiff about being separated from their flock and those that park themselves in front of Haram have probably walked miles from their accommodation and are resting/eating before the next prayer. As to the biadap and selfish ones...... Ah, well! Those types will always be around. Now that the crowds are thinning, going to the mosque is more pleasant and you get to strike conversations with really decent people from all over the world.

  5. You r right, we shouldn't be angry at anything, that's what it calls for in Islam. Sifat pemarah is one of the sifat-sifat Mazmumah yang perlu kita jauhkan / buangkan pada diri kita. Ada seorang sahabat Nabi yang dikatakan menjadi penghuni syurga (can't remember his name)cos, as said, not once in his life ever, had he become angry. Setiap kali berlaku sesuatu yang boleh membuat beliau marah, he will come out with few other reasons why he shouldn't be angry, the same as u've mentioned.

Yeah, with the lesser crowd around u, make full use of the opportunity to do all the things that u'd wanted to do when they were around, like sembahyang d belakang imam, mencium hajaral aswad, buat tawaf on the inner most lane (it actually takes about ten minutes), sembahyang dan berdoa di multazam, makam Ibrahim, dalam Kaabah, etc. We managed to do all these when we performed the Umrah last year.
